Butterfly & Dragonfly Ballet

Suitable for children aged 3-5 years of age.

Our Butterfly and Dragonfly Ballet Classes (for boys and girls) are aimed at children aged 3 to 5 years of age. Each week children begin to learn the basics of Classical Ballet as well as continuing to develop posture and coordination of motor skills. The academy follows the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) syllabus where children have the opportunity to work towards Ofqual examinations and medals (it is however not compulsory, and children are more than welcome to participate and move up to the next level without assessments taking place). Alongside learning the IDTA syllabus children will also participate in other ballet class exercises and activities designed by the Teachers to help build imagination, creativity and social skills as well as participate in our annual showcase!

Contemporary Dance for Beginners

Suitable for children aged 7+ years of age.

This is a non-examination-based class which focuses on learning Contemporary Dance Technique. This class focuses on developing pupils performance skills whilst building foundational knowledge of Contemporary Dance, Choreography and Improvisation Skills. Pupils who attend this class will have the opportunity to perform in our annual Recital and summer Showcase as well as other community events and Dance Festivals.

Performing Arts

Suitable for children aged 6 – 13 years of age.

Our Performing Arts classes aim to provide children with the necessary skills needed in order to be successful in life. The skills and techniques that the children learn include communication and presentation skills as well as confidence building. All classes will allow the children to develop at their own pace in a supportive and fun learning environment. Each week a different theme is explored for example ‘superheroes’ or ‘Horrible Histories.’ Classes will also involve the teaching of Musical Theatre and Dance Skills. There is also the opportunity for children to work towards Speech and Drama examinations held by the awarding body Trinity College London or the IDTA. (Participation in examinations is not compulsory).

Street Dance

Suitable for children aged 6 – 12 years of age.

Our fun and energetic popular Street Dance class teaches children lots of moves used in Street Dance including the “cut through” and the “spin ball” (to name a few)! In this class pupils work towards community performances as well as our annual Recital and Annual summer showcase. This class is perfect for children that just want to Dance and learn new skills! This class will also allow pupils to explore creativity within dance and movement by learning how to put dances together (known as choreography) as well as developing their fitness, stamina and coordination not to mention develop your child’s confidence and self-esteem!
