Suitable for children aged 4 – 6 years of age.
Our Butterfly and Dragonfly Ballet Classes (for boys and girls) are aimed at children aged 3 to 5 years of age. Each week children begin to learn the basics of ballet as well as continuing to develop posture and coordination of motor skills. The school follow the International Dance Teachers Assocation (IDTA) syllabus where children have the opportunity to work towards examinations and medals (it is however not compulsory and children are more than welcome to just participate and move up to the next level without assessments taking place). Alongside learning the IDTA syllabus children will also participate in other ballet class exercises and activities designed by the Teachers to help build imagination, creativity and social skills.
Suitable for children aged 6 years and over.
The Junior Ballet and Tap class is a beginners class for children aged 6 years or above with little or no experience. The class follows the International Dance Teacher’s Assocation (IDTA) syllabus as well as free creative work which complements the vocational training. Pupils have the opportunity to work towards examinations should they wish to perform in community dance shows and festivals to help develop confidence and presentation skills. Overall the class aims to introduce your child to the wonderful world of Ballet and Tap where theatre trips and visits will be organised as well as the opportunity of learning how to put steps together through composition and choreography.
Suitable for children aged 6 years and above.
The Junior Performing Arts classes aim to provide children with the necessary skills needed in order to be successful in life. The skills and techniques that the children learn include communication and presentation skills as well as confidence building. All classes will allow the children to develop at their own pace in a supportive and fun learning environment. Each week a different theme is explored for example “Super Heroes” or “Horrible Histories.” Classes will also involve the teaching of Musical Theatre and Dance Skills. There is also the opportunity for children to work towards Speech and Drama examinations held by the awarding body Trinity College London. (Participation in examinations is not compulsory). Please note that when two classse are attended by one child then a discount is applied.
